Which ceremony should I attend?
The College of Liberal Arts & Sciences has two ceremonies in the Spring session. Both ceremonies will take place in Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Saturday, May 13. Please attend the ceremony which corresponds with your primary major.
- Majors recognized at the 9:00 a.m. ceremony
- Majors recognized at the 1:00 p.m. ceremony
- University College graduates will be recognized at the 1:00 p.m. ceremony
When should I arrive at the ceremony?
The West and South doors to Carver-Hawkeye Arena will open 1 hour prior to each ceremony, plan to arrive no later than 15 minutes after the doors open.
Parking at Carver-Hawkeye Arena
- Traffic delays are expected, so graduates and guests should plan accordingly. Directions and Parking information can be found on UIMaps.

Security at Carver-Hawkeye Arena
Please note that standard large event security procedures will be enforced at Carver-Hawkeye Arena, with the exception of the clear bag policy. We ask that you plan your arrival time accordingly.
What do I do when I enter the Arena?
Plan to arrive for your ceremony with cap and gown. Graduates who previously ordered apparel should visit the Iowa Hawk Shop apparel table located in Section EE/FF near the North entrance. After entering the arena please find the card hand out table corresponding with the first letter of your last name. A map and table of card hand out locations can be found below:

What do I do after picking up my Name Card?
Please line up at least 15 minutes prior to the start of the ceremony to prepare for the processional. Your marshal will lead you down the stairs onto the floor and guide you to your seats.
Commencement Ambassadors wearing yellow badges on lanyards will be stationed on the concourse to help guide you or answer questions. We look forward to seeing you at Carver-Hawkeye Arena and celebrating this milestone with you.
