Options to request a transcript
You will be able to choose an official paper or official electronic transcript using any of the request options below
Current and Former U of I students who last attended after 2003. Please note: If your Hawk ID password has expired, please call the ITS Help Desk at 319-384-4357 to get it reset. If you have a document you need included with your order please use the Online Transcript Request Form which does allow you to upload documents.
- Log-in --> Student Information --> Documentation & Reports --> Transcript Request
- Start a new transcript request
- Choose the type of transcript you want and click Add detail
- Complete your order.
- SAVE detail
- SUBMIT order when finished
You can check MyUI Transcript Order History to review your completed orders. The history link is in the top right hand corner of the transcript request page.
- Requested = not yet processed or not yet released
- Processed = date processed and released or mailed
Any student, current or former University of Iowa and Closed/Defunct schools. Closed/defunct schools must order a paper copy, electronic is not available. Paper and electronic transcripts are released within 1-2 business days depending on the number of orders received. Please note: You should use this request form if you have a document you need to include with your transcript. You can upload documents at the end of your order. Documents can only be included with a paper order not electronic.
Any student, current or former University of Iowa and Closed/Defunct schools. Please print form, complete, sign, and return to our office using any of the options listed. You may include documents that you need sent with your transcript. Orders will be processed and released within 1- 2 business days after the order is received.

Any student, current or former University of Iowa and Closed/Defunct schools. Drop-in at the UI Service Center, 2700 UCC (University Capitol Centre). Hours 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Please bring a current photo I.D. with you. Be sure to bring the contact information and address if you need us to mail your transcript.
FAQs and Ordering HELP
• What does Handling Type "Sealed" or "Unsealed" or Signature on back of envelope mean?
Sealed and signature on back of envelope mean the same thing. You may want to request this if you are having your paper transcript mailed to you then sending on to another address. We stamp the back of the envelope with our Registrar signature. If you open the envelope the signature is voided, and the transcript may no longer be considered official if you send it on to another address. As long as the signature on the flap has not been tampered with then the transcript can be considered official. Official transcripts from the University of Iowa are not sent in a signature stamped envelope unless so requested. You do not need to request this option for electronic transcripts or for transcript mailed directly from us to your recipient.
• Do I want a Partial transcript and what level of study do I choose?
Partial = only the part of your Academic record you choose will be produced and sent ( we can only separate by colleges not by courses. If you were in a joint or combined program, we cannot separate level of study. Choose Complete or if in MyUI leave blank = all of your Academic record from the University of Iowa. Undergraduate = only your Undergraduate Academic record. Graduate = only your Graduate College Academic record. Professional = only your Professional College Academic record
• Timing or when do you want your transcript released?
Now = order processed within 1-2 business days. After grades = we will hold your order until the end of the current semester and release it after the final grade run. Approximately 5 business days after the last day of finals. After degree = we will hold your order until the end of the current semester and release it after degrees are conferred. Approximately 10 business days after the last day of finals.
• Where do I send a transcript from another school to the U of I for transfer credits.

• AMCAS ordering help:
Questions for AMCAS should be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org. Do not send transcripts to this address, they cannot be processed.
Beginning Friday April 1, 2022, AMCAS will accept the University of Iowa electronic transcripts sent to AMCASTranscripts@aamc.org. DO NOT send any other correspondence to this email, it is only for University of Iowa transcripts ordered to be sent directly from our office.

You may order a paper transcript using any of the request options. If you have a form that needs to be included with your transcript please use the Online Transcript Request Form.
