Any registration change that you cannot initiate or complete in MyUI can be completed using the email process below.
The most common types of changes you will need to complete by email are:
-
Section change
Staying in the same course but changing to a different instructor or to a different time/location. A section change can be processed in MyUI before a course begins. In fall or spring a section change can also be processed in MyUI until day 6 for courses that meet the entire session. If winter or summer session then section changes cannot be processed in MyUI once a course begins. This is also the rule for any off-cycle courses (doesn’t meet the entire session) in any session or sub-session. If a section change is not possible in MyUI then it can be processed through an email from your uiowa.edu email address to registrar@uiowa.edu. See below for information needed in the email.
-
Hours change
Staying in the same course with the same instructor and same section but increasing or decreasing credit hours. An hours change can be processed in MyUI before a course begins. In fall or spring an hours change can also be processed in MyUI until day 6 for courses that meet the entire session. If winter or summer session then hours changes cannot be processed in MyUI once a course begins. This is also the rule for any off-cycle courses (doesn’t meet the entire session) in any session or sub-session. If an hours change is not possible in MyUI session it can be processed through an email from your uiowa.edu email address to registrar@uiowa.edu. See below for information needed in the email.
-
Hours change to audit (zero hours)
Tuition is still assessed for auditing a course. The amount is based on the minimum fee hours associated with the course. Check the minimum fee hours in MyUI in the course description.
Staying in the same course with the same instructor and same section but decreasing credit hours to zero (audit). Course work for an audit must be discussed and approved by the instructor. Changing to an audit may be possible for some courses in MyUI before a course begins. Once a session begins or once an off-cycle course begins if an hours change to audit (zero) is not possible in MyUI then it can be processed through an email from your uiowa.edu email address to registrar@uiowa.edu. See below for information needed in the email. You will still be assessed tuition for auditing a course. Please be sure you have discussed with the instructor what work you will be responsible for if you are approved for an audit.
-
Section/Hours change
staying in the same course but changing the instructor or day/time AND changing the number of credit hours (increasing or decreasing). A section/hours change can be processed in MyUI before a course begins. In fall or spring a section/hours change can also be processed in MyUI until day 6 for courses that meet the entire session. If winter or summer session then section/hours changes cannot be processed in MyUI once a course begins. This is also the rule for any off-cycle courses (doesn’t meet the entire session) in any session or sub-session. If a section/hours change is not possible in MyUI then it can be processed through an email from your uiowa.edu email address to registrar@uiowa.edu. See below for information needed in the email.
