Four-Week Summer Sub-Session

Summer 2024 four-week summer sub-session dates: May 13 – June 6; UI holiday is Monday, May 27; final exam day is Friday, June 7. There are  3 Mondays, 4 Tuesdays, 4 Wednesdays, and 4 Thursdays in the four-week summer sub-session for a total of 15 days.

University Classrooms

Courses not requiring a university classroom should consider following this schedule for student convenience in planning summer classes.

  • Courses must be scheduled every day on Monday through Thursday. 
  • Courses must be offered in the morning beginning at 8:30 a.m. and ending by 12:30 p.m. with courses starting on the half hour; a course cannot meet for more than three hours and 20 minutes at one time. 
  • Courses must meet for the entire length of the session or be an off-cycle course meeting within the four-week summer sub-session; approval is required by the Office of the Registrar in workflow for off-cycle courses and they should be intended for special populations. 
  • Internships and 0 s.h. courses cannot be offered in the four-week summer sub-session.

Summer 2024 eight-week summer sub-session dates: June 10 – Aug. 1; UI holiday is Thursday, July 4; final exam day is Friday, Aug. 2. There are 8 Mondays, 8 Tuesdays, 8 Wednesdays, and 7 Thursdays in the eight-week summer sub-session for a total of 31 days.
