Dean's List Criteria

Award Criteria:

• Degree-seeking undergraduate student in the Carver College of Medicine, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, College of Education, College of Engineering, College of Public Health, Tippie College of Business, or University College;
• Grade-point average (GPA) of 3.5 or higher during the given semester or summer session;
• 12 or more UI-graded semester hours during a given semester or summer session;
• No semester hours of “I” (incomplete) or “O” (no grade reported) during the same semester or session.

College Specific Criteria:

• Undergraduate students in the Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine may qualify for the dean’s list with fewer than 12 semester hours of graded credit, if deemed appropriate by the college.
• College of Nursing students participating in clinical courses who have a total of 12 semester hours of earned credit, with 8 semester hours of graded credit, with a GPA of 3.50 or higher, are recognized.

Please note: Courses graded with a pass/non-pass grading system are not included in the grade-point average calculations or graded semester hour totals, potentially impacting eligibility for the dean’s list.

Eligibility is limited to undergraduate students enrolled in undergraduate coursework. Courses that are applied as graduate credit when in the combined degree program will not count toward Dean’s or President’s List eligibility. Students should consult with their advisor regarding how combined degree credit may affect eligibility.
