Students Not Returning Spring 2024

Students not returning to the University for the Spring 2024 session must drop their entire enrollment before the courses begin to prevent being held for tuition and fee assessment. Enrollment may be dropped before the session begins by either:

  • Dropping all your spring courses in MyUI by 11:59 pm the night before they begin OR
  • Emailing a statement from your uiowa email with your signature to registrar@uiowa.edu indicating you will not return to the University for the spring session. Your statement must include your name, University ID number, address, and contact information (phone and email) and be received before any of your courses have started.
  • Your statement must be received by Friday January 12, at 4:30 pm.

Once the spring session begins students must process a withdrawal in MyUI if they wish to remove all their courses and not be enrolled for the session unless some/all of their courses have not started yet.  As long as a course has not started it can be dropped and the tuition will adjust to zero.

  • If students choose to withdraw (remove all courses) after the session has begun please see the Withdrawal Information on our website. You will be responsible for a percentage of tuition and mandatory fees based on the date of the withdrawal. Before you withdraw, drop any courses that have not started yet so that tuition will adjust to zero for the dropped courses.

The first spring session University Bill is due January 22, 2024. You can view and pay the U-bill online via MyUI. Failure to make the minimum payment by that date will result in a late fee.

For more information regarding registration, please visit the Office of the Registrar Registration webpage or contact the UI Service Center.
