New! Starting spring 2024, students can request Pass/Non-Pass grading for eligible courses directly through MyUI.

Your academic experience is about more than just grades. It's about exploration, growth, and finding your path. With the Pass/Non-Pass grading option, the University of Iowa reaffirms its commitment to providing a flexible and supportive learning environment.

Important Considerations

  • Ensure you read and understand your collegiate guidelines on which courses are eligible for Pass/Non-Pass grading.
  • P, N, S, and U grades are not included in GPA calculations and do not count towards graded semester hours (s.h.).
  • Review how Pass/Non-Pass grading may impact your major requirements, graduate school applications, or financial aid eligibility.
  • Academic advisors are here to help students make informed decisions. Don’t hesitate to reach out!
