Diplomas will be printed and released 6 - 8 weeks after graduation. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Diploma Services must make adjustments to diploma delivery options.
Student Pick-up will not be a delivery option for Summer 2020 diplomas. In light of the university's response to COVID-19, Diploma Services and Graduation Services staff are working remotely and are unable to guarantee we will be able to return to campus to facilitate the Student Pick-up option.
If you originally chose Student Pick-up as your delivery method, please log on to MyUI and update your delivery method to United States Postal Service (USPS) First Class Mail on your degree application no later than August 7, 2020. United States Postal Service (USPS) First Class Mail works well for delivery to domestic addresses. Once printed diplomas are taken directly to the Post Office to be dispatched.
Please be sure to provide an accurate Diploma Delivery Address. To update the Diploma Delivery Address open your degree application in MyUI and click on the (edit) link to the left side of the screen. Scroll down to Diploma Delivery Information and enter your diploma address here. Be sure to click on the green Save button at the bottom of the screen. Following the diploma address you will see Delivery Method options. It is very important for students to provide an accurate diploma delivery address as if the diploma is undeliverable and is returned to our office, staff may not be available to receive the diploma nor to forward it to a different address.
FedEx delivery will not speed up the delivery to a U.S. address and cannot be used for local delivery to the Iowa City/Coralville area. Diploma Services staff are working remotely and are unable to guarantee we will be able to return to campus to process diplomas for FedEx delivery in a timely manner once diplomas have been printed. Each delivery is prepared individually and dispatched over the course of several days. This is why USPS First Class Mail is the recommended mode of delivery to domestic addresses.
Although not encouraged as a domestic delivery method for Summer 2020 diplomas, you may choose FedEx as your Diploma Delivery Method by contacting email@example.com. The $15 domestic FedEx delivery fee will be charged to your U-Bill. Once it is in their possession, Fed Ex will send you an email with a tracking number. *It is your responsibility to make sure FedEx can deliver to the address you provide. If your diploma is returned to the UI because it cannot be delivered, the FedEx shipping fees and the return fees will be also charged to your U-Bill.
Diplomas will not be released to students who have outstanding U-Bill balances.
