YOUR COMMENCEMENT CEREMONY

Information regarding your commencement ceremony can be accessed at the following link: http://registrar.uiowa.edu/commencement

Commencement recognizes academic achievements and is an occasion for celebration. Please thoroughly read and understand the information posted for your college to avoid confusion for you and your guests. Please share this information with your guests who will attend.

Participation is voluntary. Undergraduates do not need to inform us if choosing not to participate in commencement ceremonies. Graduate and professional students should check with respective colleges for RSVP procedures.

Ceremonies are open to the public. Most ceremonies will last approximately two hours. Tickets are not required for Graduate, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and Business ceremonies held at Carver Hawkeye Arena. Students outside these areas should check with respective colleges for ticketing information.

CAP & GOWN SALES

All graduates participating in commencement ceremonies are required to wear a black cap and gown, and a tassel of corresponding college color. Please see the Office of the Registrar website for collegiate tassel colors.

To ensure seating at commencement ceremonies, undergraduates must purchase a cap and gown, and fill out a name card at the Iowa Hawk Shop, Iowa Memorial Union (IMU), Iowa City. Graduate and professional students should check with respective colleges for specific apparel aquisition information.
