Subject: MAUI Course Offerings Now Open for Summer 2019

Date: June 19, 2018

This message is intended for Academic Departmental Administrators.

MAUI Offerings Planner is now open and available for you to access for Summer 2019 course offerings! You can update and submit your Summer 2019 course offerings at any time from now until the end of the day on August 13, 2018 in MAUI .

The course offerings that you submitted for Summer 2018 have been replicated to the Summer 2019 session. Override start and end dates for off-cycle courses also replicate. The dates for Summer 2019 off-cycle courses will need to be adjusted by the department before submitting to workflow. The following items never replicate: University Classrooms, textbooks, instructors for non-IND sections, room preferences, and midterm exam section information.

For Summer 2019, the first day of classes for the 4-, 6-I, and 12-week sessions will be on a Tuesday in accordance with Academic Calendar dates; Mondays will be the last day of MyUI registration for these sessions. For Summer 2019, the first day of classes for the 4-, 6-I, and 12-week sessions is Tuesday, May 14; Monday, May 13, is the last day of MyUI registration for these sessions.

Efficient utilization of campus-wide instructional space is critical to meet the needs of growing student enrollments. Scheduling strategies are being implemented by the Office of the Provost to increase collaboration, better match teaching pedagogy with instructional space, improve campus-wide academic facility utilization, and optimize the use of instructional spaces across campus through centralization. As a result, the Office of the Provost and the Office of the Registrar have rebranded University of Iowa campus classrooms. Going forward, General Assignment Classrooms (GACs) will now be known as University Classrooms (UCRs). More details regarding the initiative can be found at https://classrooms.uiowa.edu/tier-classroom-initiative.

Room Type Ideal field located in the time/location area in MAUI Planner is for master campus planning purposes only and does not mean that the course will be assigned to the desired room type ideal.

New Proof Period - Beginning Spring 2019, there will be a two week window to submit Course Offering changes prior to Schedule Builder going live in MyUI.

Updating Summer 2019 course offerings - Scheduling regulations, departmental class-hour allocations, and information on contact hour calculations are located on the Registrar's Office website at http://registrar.uiowa.edu/course-offerings and http://registrar.uiowa.edu/classroom-scheduling.

TILE classrooms - To request a TILE classroom, the instructor is required to have TILE training. If the instructor changes after the initial assignment of a TILE classroom, a room modification may occur IF the replacement instructor is not TILE-trained. For more information about TILE and training, see the TILE website.

Class times - When requesting a University Classroom, remember to offer your courses according to the approved class times. You can locate the times on the Classroom Scheduling website. If you feel you have reason to appeal these class meeting times, the department chair should e-mail a justification to Renee Houser to request an exception. Associate Provost Lon Moeller will make the final decision. See "Exceptions to Standardized Time Block Schedule" for more information.

Submit your course sections to workflow - Click on the ""Submit to Workflow" tab to complete this step. If you miss this final step, the Registrar's Office will not be aware that you intend to offer those sections for the Summer semester, no room assignments are made, and the sections will not appear on MyUI.

Delete sections from the planner that you do not plan to offer - This does not delete your courses from the MAUI Course Library or the General Catalog; it only indicates you will not offer those sections in Summer 2019.

If you need assistance - You can access "Planner Help" in MAUI. This is located on the left-hand side of your Offerings Planner screen in the shaded area. There is a link for "Planner Support" for you to email any questions you may have. You also may email questions to Charlene Maher.

Proof copy - Select the fields you want to display on your proof copy by using the arrow to select the fields you want to capture. Change the session date in the upper-right side of the screen and press the "Go" tab near the bottom of the page. A proof copy can be requested at any time which will show your real time changes. The "Proof Copy" link is located at the left-hand side of your Offerings Planner screen in the shaded area under "Planner Menu".

DEO and campus address information on MyUI - Check MyUI for your current college/departmental information. If you have changes, email Jan Brunstein at Jan Brunstein.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

Thank you.
