Who gets the University bills (U-bills)?
U-bills are sent to the student's current residing address unless they changed the destination of the u-bill.
Students may update their address or change the destination on Iowa Student Information Services ISIS
when accessing their u-bill.
Can parents receive the University bills?
Yes. To do this, the student should change the destination of the bill. The instructions are provided on the billing screen.
All other correspondence from the University will still be mailed to the student’s current residing address.
How and when do students get grade reports?
University of Iowa students view their academic record on ISIS.
Course information and grades are added at the end of each academic term.
Can parents view the student's grades?
Students can establish "Guest Accounts" through ISIS
that allows parents, guardians, or others to view grades and other aspects of a student's record.
Why is the student's permission required for release of academic information?
The University is bound by the federal regulations of the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
We are not allowed to release information pertaining to a student's academic record without the express permission
of the student. Occasionally this conflicts with what parents feel are their rights or need to know. Parents can access
their student's educational records (grades) if the student authorizes release thru establishing a guest account for the parents.
The student can authorize access for up to three people. The student can produce a verification letter through
his/her ISIS account. Such a letter can also be obtained at the
Registrar's Student Service Center in 17 Calvin Hall.
Can I talk to my student's academic advisor or collegiate office about their progress or problems?
Yes. If you have questions, please call. However, advisers cannot talk about your student's record unless the student
has given the advising office written permission to share this information with you. We can talk to you about how we
assist students, University policies and procedures, and what resources are available to your student.
Who do I call if I want more information or I'm confused about my rights to my student's academic records?
If you want more information, please contact the Office of the Registrar, 1 Jessup Hall, University of Iowa, Iowa City, IA 52242. The phone number is (319) 335-0238.
How can I obtain a letter verifying my student's enrollment at the University for insurance purposes?

in 17 Calvin Hall or by calling (319) 335-0229.
